Chapter Nineteen
Present day
Luce dropped her head to her chest. Her guts were killing her, and all she wanted to do was pee. An escape plan right about now would be excellent, because the next time someone came into the room, she swore she was going to die.
The door swung open and hit the wall with a crash. A hole in the wall was its reward for being in the wrong place at the wrong time.
“Luce. Your lucky day. It’s Ivan, to take you to pee.” He thumped his chest and quirked his eyebrows.
Why were these men always trying to come on to themselves, ’cause clearly their moves were lost on her?
“Where’s Frank?”
“Frank?” Ivan gave Luce a confused look, and then reality hit him. “Oh, Asian dude who fucked your friend up,” Ivan deadpanned and then whispered, “Did he kill her?”
“What do you think?”
“Yeah. I don’t like that slanty-eyed bastard. He’s bad news. Sucks boss’s ass all the time. Said he got plan for you. Something about daughter.”
“Mei?”
“Meh. I don’t know name. I try not to pay attention to talking asshole. Really pain in ass. You know what I mean?” Ivan slapped her shoulder, then clapped his hands together. “Okay, so you dodge bullet again. Hey, that’s pretty good. Petrov pissed, but who cares, right?”
“Right,” Luce said, going along with the overly friendly enemy.
“Okay you get to have shower and use the real toilet.”
“Finally.”
“If you’re good, I mean really good, I’ll wash your back.”
“Really? I’m good. How about you just let me get this grime off me, and we can talk later. Besides, it’s that time of the month and I have a headache.”
“Jesus, do all you women have headache when you get cycle? My wife same way. She cramps and cries like infant.” He grabbed his head, covering his ears, and waved his head back and forth. “I can’t stand crying. I want to take a knife and stab my eyes out.”
Luce corrected him. “Don’t you mean ears?”
“Whatever.”
Luce wished she could feel sorry for the bastard, but the longer his rant went on, the less likely she’d be able to have enough time to put her plan into action. “Bathroom, please.”
“Yeah, yeah.” He reached down to uncuff her one hand and then recuffed it as he brought them together. Lifting her arms up, he bent her over and walked her to the bathroom. Ivan unlocked the cuff and attached her to the shower rod.
“Hey, how am I supposed to go to the bathroom with my hand cuffed up here? I guess you’ll have to wipe my ass, Ivan.” Luce didn’t bother to look at the man. She knew what she’d said would punch his buttons, especially since she was on her period.
His face dropped close to hers as he started to turn her around, shoving her toward the shower. “I don’t wipe my bedridden mama’s ass. What make you think I’d like yours?”
“Well, I can’t go to the bathroom in the shower, now can I?”
His gaze roamed over her body. It was obvious what he was thinking, but he wasn’t about to see her naked.
